Welcome to our blog. I hope you enjoy following along as we share the stories of our daily lives.
We were triple-blessed with the birth of our granddaughters, Kendal, Keely and Kirsten. They're now 3-years old! Yes - 3-year old triplets! All girls! Their parents are Kevin (a coach) and Heidi (a nurse). Kendal looks like Kevin, Keely looks like Heidi and Kirsten looks like she belongs to Crystal and Tristan.
Now we are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our 4th grandchild. He's a boy and his name will be Tucker. While his parents are waiting for his mid-June arrival, they are busy preparing his room. They chose a jungle theme with giraffes, zebras, monkeys, and elephants. They painted the walls, cleaned the carpet and washed the linens. Now they're down to those 3 dreaded words: "some assembly required". There's the crib, a changing table, a dresser and some bookshelves - all with "some assembly required". If only it were that easy! Tristan is on the last piece and it's turned into a real nightmare. Missing pieces, wrong pieces, stuck pieces - you name it, he's dealing with it. Tucker's already amassed a small library of children's books, so Crystal's wondering if they need more bookshelves. If you know Crystal, you aren't surprised. If you know Tristan, you know he won't complain as he opens yet another box that says "some assembly required".
The jungle theme reminded me of the trip we took last year during Spring Break. We spent a few days in San Antonio with the triplets and their parents. Our first stop was the zoo. The girls LOVED the 3-seater wagon that they were riding in! They loved to ride in it, they loved to pull it while their sisters rode in it, they loved to put their sippy cups in the cup holders on it and they loved to push it - but they had zero interest in the zoo animals! It's a good thing 2-year old get in the zoo for free. After a nap (for PaPa and MeMe, too), we headed to Sea World. We're fast learners - this time the girls rode in their strollers. The loved the whales and the dolphins and the water and the food and the crowds. They would ooohhh and aaaahhh with the crowds as the huge fish came out of the water and would squeal with delight as the water splashed over the edges of the tanks.
This year for Spring Break we're headed to our deer lease and the triplets are coming along. They have only been there once (during Thanksgiving) and the weather was so cold that they stayed in the trailer and watched The Polar Express - over and over and over again. One day we bundled them up and let them fill the deer feeder at the camp. They had corn everywhere, so it didn't take long for the deer to show up. We put the girls in the bed of a pick-up and they were able to watch the deer eat. They loved it.
I asked them the other day if they remembered feeding the deer and they did. They are excited about going again and hopefully they'll be able to get out and stretch their legs a little more than last time. Our friends, Jim and Barbara, are going to bring their granddaughter with them to the lease. Anna has been telling Barbara that she wants to take the triplets on a nature walk. Anna is only 6 - so I bet MeMe and PaPa get to go on the nature walk, too.
